Neighbors Helping Neighbors Across Northern New York
Every summer, United Way of Northern New York brings volunteers, businesses and community partners together to help stock local food pantries at a time when many families face added pressure.
And in 2026, our community showed up in a big way.
More Than 23,000 Reasons to Say Thank You
Our 2026 Community Food Drives, presented by AES and Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield, collected more than 23,000 food and personal care items for 50 local food pantries serving Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence Counties.
The Community Food Drive at Watertown Walmart collected more than 16,000 items for pantries serving Jefferson and Lewis Counties. Two weeks later, we took the effort to St. Lawrence County for the first time, where the inaugural St. Lawrence County Community Food Drive at Potsdam Walmart collected another 7,200 items.
Behind every number was someone who chose to help: a neighbor who added a few extra items to a shopping cart, a business that lent its support, or a volunteer who spent part of the day collecting, sorting and loading donations.
That’s community in action.

Hunger Doesn’t Follow a Calendar
Our Community Food Drives happen in June, but local food pantries serve our neighbors all year long.
You don’t have to wait for our next event to make a difference. Host a food drive at your workplace, school, service club or community organization. Volunteer with a local pantry. Donate food or funds. Or simply learn more about the resources serving your own community.
Small acts add up, and every community can play a part.
Find Food Resources Near You
Food Bank of Central New York works with food pantries, meal programs and other community partners throughout our region. Its online Food Finder can help you locate food resources in your community by address or ZIP code.
You can also contact United Way of Northern New York, and we’ll be glad to help connect you with local resources.
