Cow Kissing: A Moo-velous Event
What do you get when you mix a heartfelt cause with a little barnyard fun? A record-breaking fundraiser and a whole lot of community love!
Cow Kissing for ALICE was more than just a lighthearted competition. It was a rally cry for the hardworking individuals and families across Lewis County who are Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed (ALICE). These are our neighbors who make too much to qualify for assistance but not enough to cover life’s basic needs.
Thanks to YOU—our generous donors, enthusiastic voters, dedicated sponsors, and brave cow kissers—we raised an incredible $16,693 to support under-resourced working families. That’s up from $11,000 last year!
🏆 And the Results Are In!
The entire Cow Kissing team went above and beyond, raising awareness and funds for ALICE. Here’s how the final standings shaped up:
Peter Ostrum (aka Charlie from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory): $4,596
Jeremiah Papineau (local legend and media machine): $2,797
Brittany Davis (Lewis County mogul and community advocate): $1,842
Dan O’Brien (Cheese Curd King of Lewis County): $1,815
Mel Busler (7 News Sports Anchor and Man of the People): $643
💋 Double the Smooches!
In a heartwarming twist, winner Peter Ostrum offered the honor to Jeremiah Papineau who engaged the highest number of individual donors. As Jeremiah reminded us, “The cow has two cheeks,” and with that, they each kissed the cow, a beautiful red and white Holstein named Jenn (Do-N-Joy MV Jennings), owned by Samuel VanBuren of Rossdale Farms.
Your generosity gives our neighbors a fighting chance—and that’s no bull. 🐂 Let’s keep working together to LIVE UNITED.
Save the dates for next year’s Lewis County Fair:
July 21 – 25, 2026!
