United Way of Northern New York is proud to invest in local nonprofits working to improve the lives of individuals and families across Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence Counties. Through our Community Impact Fund, we support human service programs that align with one or more of our three focus areas:
Social Determinants of Health (e.g., access to nutrition, housing, transportation, literacy, and healthcare)
Child / Youth Success (e.g., academic support, mentoring, youth development)
Economic Stability (e.g., job skills training, financial literacy, employment support)
We are seeking proposals from outcome-driven, equity-focused, and collaborative organizations committed to making a measurable difference in our communities.
Who Can Apply?
Applications are open to:
501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations focused on human service programming
Serving residents of Jefferson, Lewis, and/or St. Lawrence Counties
In operation for at least three years
Governed by a board of directors and with at least one paid employee
Funding Information
Total grant pool: Approximately $225,000 (dependent on campaign results)
Maximum request per proposal: $25,000
- Grant period: January 1 – December 31, 2026
United Way funding cannot be used for capital projects, lobbying, event sponsorship, proselytizing, or any programs that exclude individuals based on race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, or disability.

Applications will be submitted through our online grant portal. The portal opens on July 28, 2025, and the deadline to apply is August 29, 2025 at 11:59 PM.

Community Impact grant funds are made possible through the United Way of Northern New York campaign, conducted in more than 80 workplaces across the North Country. Employees are invited to support their community—and a wide range of local programs—through convenient payroll deductions.
