A Season of Gratitude and Growing Impact Across the North Country

November 24, 2025

As we celebrate this season of gratitude, we are thrilled to share some big news: United Way of Northern New York is investing $228,200 in Community Impact Grants for 2026!

These grants are made possible because of generous people like you, donors who care deeply about strengthening the North Country and ensuring that every neighbor has the opportunity to thrive. Together, we are supporting programs that make our communities healthier, safer, and more resilient across Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence Counties.

Expanding Our Reach Across the Region

In 2026, we’re continuing support for long-trusted partners like Watertown Urban Mission, Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club, Lewis County Opportunities, and many more whose services remain essential to local families. We’re also excited to welcome several new Community Impact partners to include Community Health Center of the North Country, Massena Meals on Wheels, St. Lawrence County Community Development Program, St. Lawrence County People Project, and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Lewis County. These partnerships reflect our growing footprint and a deepening commitment to meeting community needs throughout the tri-county region.

More Than Grants — A Broader Investment in Stability and Opportunity

Community Impact Grants are just one part of our investment strategy for 2026. When combined with other targeted supports, including assistance for working ALICE households (Asset-Limited, Income-Constrained, Employed), the Getting Ahead workshop series, and other special community initiatives, United Way’s total community investments next year will exceed $350,000.

That means more families will move toward stability, more seniors and children will access essential services, and more neighbors will feel supported during some of life’s hardest moments.

How Community Impact Decisions Are Made

Community Impact Grants are awarded through a volunteer-driven review process that brings together nonprofit leaders, community members, and graduates of Getting Ahead. Reviewers evaluate each application based on community need, service gaps, and the potential for meaningful, measurable impact. Their recommendations guide United Way’s investments each year, ensuring funds go where they will make the greatest difference.

Your Support Makes This Possible

Every gift, big or small, fuels this work! If you believe in strengthening the North Country and helping families build a better tomorrow, we invite you to join us … because united is the way.
