The 2-1-1 phone number will be available in NNY on Wednesday Feb. 11, providing information and referral services to all callers, including Fort Drum families.
This service will also be the best way for our citizenry to quickly get help for any number of issues. 2-1-1 also has a website with services and we encourage you to go through the site to see if your agency is being represented. View website here. We have found a few glitches and they are being corrected quickly. If you have a suggested change in information or placement on the website, please click here contact Syracuse to let them know. Updating the site will be an ongoing process.
The United Way of NNY teamed up with the United Way of Central New York and the United Way of Oswego to contract with Contact Community Services call center, and our main contact there is Cheryl Giarusso, formerly of Canton. We feel fortunate that we have a true Northern New Yorker working with us who understands the challenges our NNY nonprofits face in providing services.
We are planning press conferences on Tuesday Feb. 10 in:
Canton at the Presbyterian Church at 11:00 am Watertown on the 3rd floor of the Key Bank building at 2:30 pm Lowville, Mountain View Prevention at 4:30 pm
We are asking our nonprofit partners to attend. We will give you more information to post at your offices and buttons to give to employees to wear so that clients can quickly see the number and begin to use it.
